Gilmores: Embarrassingly girlie

Ah, nothing beats that moment when one of your all-time favorite series comes out in a beautifully complete DVD box set. Today should bring us one such moment, with the release of "Gilmore Girls - The Complete Series Collection." But wait...this box set looks funny. Is that a Caboodle? Apparently someone over at Warner Brothers thought it best we remember this classic series with a commemorative make-up kit and Colorforms set. This isn't "The Babysitters' Club," people. This is well-written, entertaining comfort-TV at it's best, and now all of its Y-chromosome possessing devotees have to be accompanied by teenage girls to feel comfortable picking up the set!
There is an easy solution. We propose someone design a nice line of male-friendly "Gilmore" DVD slip covers. Perhaps one in camo? Another with various beer logos? It really shouldn't be that hard to make this look like a tackle box.

About Blogger

Maggie is a glorified television junkie, so it's only fitting that she gets paid to watch and dish about her favorite shows as TV editor for Metromix.

Some cold, hard facts about Maggie's addiction:

  • She's picky about her sitcoms, but will watch anything that makes her laugh out loud.
  • When doing laundry or giving herself a pedicure, she'll watch anything. Period.
  • She has a framed picture of the cast of "Amen" over her guest bathroom toilet.
  • "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" has never once not made her cry.
  • She doesn't want to know any spoilers about eliminated models, hideously designed outfits, secret hatches or the like. The elements of anticipation and surprise are sacred.

So, from fan favorites like "Lost," "Heroes," "Nip/Tuck," "Pushing Daisies," "Curb Your Enthusiasm" and "Weeds" (to name a very few), to unhealthy guiltier-than-O.J. guilty pleasures like "The Hills," "Rock of Love," "The Real World" (or anything else on MTV or VH1), she's got it covered.

Just don't say anything bad about "Top Chef" and you'll stay on her good side.
